Forwarding Numbers

Make your buzzer ring multiple phones at the same time.

One of the best parts of Buzzly: when someone dials you at the door, the call can ring several phones at once. Those phones are your Forwarding Numbers.

Using Forwarding Numbers

When a buzz comes in, every active forwarding number rings at the same time. The first person to pick up gets connected, and the rest stop ringing. Each answered buzz is recorded in your Buzz Log, including which phone took the call.

How many you get depends on your plan: Buzzly Lite includes 3, Buzzly Home includes 5, and Buzzly Social includes 10.

Heads up: if an active number goes straight to voicemail, voicemail will likely "answer" before anyone else can — an answering machine counts as picking up! Deactivate any phone that's often off or unavailable, and silence (don't reject) buzzes when you can't get them.

Adding a Forwarding Number

You manage all of this from the Overview page of your Buzzly Number — open the Forwarding tile.

  1. Click Add forwarding number.

  2. Enter the 10-digit phone number and a nickname (e.g. "Cell", "Home", "Work").

  3. Click Add number.

  4. We'll make sure the number is really yours: choose Text me or Call me, and we'll send a code.

  5. Enter the code and you're verified. (Didn't get it? You can resend after a moment.)

Activating & Deactivating

A forwarding number only rings when it's active. From the Forwarding tile, activate a number to start it ringing on buzzes, or deactivate it to stop — handy when a guest, roommate, or renter only needs access for a while. Changes take effect right away, and deactivating keeps the number on your account for next time.

Renaming a Forwarding Number

Open the Forwarding tile, find the number, and update its nickname. The new name shows up everywhere in Buzzly.

Deleting a Forwarding Number

Deleting removes the number from this Buzzly Number for good — you'd need to add and verify it again to reuse it. Just want a break from the buzzes? Deactivate it instead. To delete, open the Forwarding tile, find the number, and remove it.
