You made a Virtual Fob (nice work!), and now you want to get it into someone's hands, or change how it works. Good news: managing one is just as easy as making it. 🎉
Click Virtual Fobs in the sidebar under your Buzzly Number, then click the Virtual Fob you want to change. (If you just created one, you're already looking at it.)
The page has two halves: the left side is for getting the link to your guest and controlling the Virtual Fob, and the right side is for setting when it works. Changes save automatically, so there's no Save button to hunt for.
How do I turn a Virtual Fob on or off?
At the top there's an Enabled toggle ("Allow this Virtual Fob to unlock your building"). Flip it off and the Virtual Fob stops working right away. Flip it back on and it picks up exactly where it left off.
Turning one off is the gentle option: it keeps all your settings and schedules intact, so it's perfect when someone's away for a while and you'd rather pause than delete. If your guest opens a disabled link, they'll see Virtual Fob Disabled instead of the activate button.
How do I send the Virtual Fob to someone?
You've got two ways to hand off the secure link.
Email it from Buzzly:
Type your guest's address into the Email field ("Send them their Virtual Fob link by email").
Click Send Virtual Fob and confirm.
We'll email them the secure link plus a quick explainer on how it works.
Once it's gone, a "Sent" date appears under the field and the button becomes Resend Virtual Fob. There's a 24-hour cooldown on resends, so if it's only been a few minutes, give it a beat.
If you've added a company name to your account, you'll also see a Send from option, so you can choose whether the email comes from you personally or from your company.
And no, we don't add your guests' email addresses to any marketing lists. That wouldn't be cool. 👍
Or copy the link yourself:
Under Share Link you'll find the direct link to the Virtual Fob. Click it to copy, then paste it into a new message, email, or document to be printed and tied to a carrier pigeon. 🐦 (Mac: ⌘+V, Windows: CTRL+V, Mobile: Long Press + Paste)
If a link ever gets into the wrong hands, click Generate New Link. Heads up: the old link stops working immediately, so anyone you've already shared it with will need the fresh one.
How do I control when a Virtual Fob works?
On the right, under When can they use it?, you have two choices:
Always: the Virtual Fob works anytime, day or night.
Set a Schedule: the Virtual Fob only works during the windows you choose.
A schedule is handy when access should be limited. Think a dog walker who comes Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 4pm, or an Airbnb guest whose stay runs from one date to another.
When you choose Set a Schedule, you can add two kinds of window, and you can mix both on the same Virtual Fob:
Weekly: repeats every week on the day and times you pick (for example, Tuesdays 10am to 2pm). Weekly windows are a Buzzly Social feature.
One-Time: a single date-and-time range (for example, this Friday 3pm through Sunday 11am).
Add one with the Weekly or One-Time button, set the day or dates and the start and end times, then click Add. It appears in the list, where you can edit or remove it later. Every change takes effect right away.
One thing worth knowing: if a Virtual Fob only has one-time windows and they've all passed, it simply stops working once the last one ends. Nobody gets a warning, so if someone still needs in, add a new window or switch them to Always.
Can my guest see their schedule?
Yes, if you want them to. Turn on Show Schedule to Fob Holder and your guest will see exactly when their Virtual Fob is valid, right on their activation page. Leave it off and they'll only see whether it works at the moment they try it (out of hours, they'll get Not Available Right Now).
How do I rename a Virtual Fob?
Edit the Name field (up to 20 characters). It saves on its own, no Save button needed. Give it something you'll recognise at a glance, like "Dog Walker" or "Airbnb Guest".
Where's the Buzz Code?
The Buzz Code is the name or number your guest selects on your building's buzzer panel to ring your unit. It's optional, and it's one value shared by every Virtual Fob on that Buzzly Number, so you'll find it on the Virtual Fobs page rather than on an individual Virtual Fob. There's more on it in What exactly is a Virtual Fob and how does it work?
How do I see when it's been used?
The Activity section on this page shows the Virtual Fob's recent entries, and View all jumps you to your Buzz Log. You can also get an email every time one is used: open Account and turn on Virtual Fob Unlocks under Notifications.
How do I delete a Virtual Fob?
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete. We'll ask you to confirm, because this is permanent: that person loses access for good and the link stops working.
If you only need to pause access, use the Enabled toggle up top instead. That keeps everything saved for whenever you need it again.
That's the whole toolkit. Set it up the way you like and your guests can let themselves in, no phone tag required. Give us a buzz if you need anything!
