Setting up your Buzzly Number is necessary in order to use Buzzly, but the good news is that setup is quick and easy.
Update your Buzzer Phone Number
Your Buzzly Number is a special phone number that your buzzer will use to connect to Buzzly. Currently, your own personal cell or landline phone is likely registered in your buzzer at your apartment or condo.
Ask your building or property manager to update your buzzer phone number on record to your new Buzzly Number.
For your building or property manager, this is the same as updating any other phone number. If you wish, you need only tell them that you're changing your phone number; there is nothing else to install and all remaining setup will happen in your Buzzly Dashboard.
Give your Buzzly Number a Name
Your Buzzly Number is too smart to have a number for a name. On your Buzzly Dashboard, open the Overview page for your Buzzly Number and give it a nickname.
Set Forwarding Numbers
One of the great features of Buzzly is that when a guest dials you on your building's buzzer, the phone call can be sent to multiple phones simultaneously. These phones are called 'Forwarding Numbers' and your Dashboard will guide you through adding and activating them.
See Forwarding Numbers for more information.
Set Unlock Button
Currently, when you get a phone call from your buzzer, you press a button on your phone to tell the buzzer to unlock the door. This number is different for every buzzer system, and Buzzly needs to know what it is for some features to work. Your Buzzly dashboard will guide you through setting this number.
See Unlock Button for more information.
Building Caller ID
Your building's buzzer is just a phone — when someone dials you at the door, it calls with its own Caller ID. You can tell Buzzly to only accept calls from that number, which keeps wrong numbers and telephone scams from nibbling at your Buzztime. On the Overview page, open the Caller ID tile and you'll see the numbers that have been buzzing you — pick your building's (it's usually the one calling most) and hit Restrict. We highly recommend setting this up.
