We get it, it's annoying when it seems like something isn't working, or that your door isn't opening when expected.
Usually, there's a very simple cause, so let's go through a few troubleshooting checks.
First, things first, make sure that your buzzer is calling your Buzzly Number, and not your own phone directly. To do this, head to your Dashboard and click Buzz Log on the left. Make sure you see the calls coming into Buzzly when your buzzer is dialed.
Next, let's make sure the call is being handled by either a Virtual Fob or a Scheduled Access period. In your Buzz Log, filter by Auto-unlocked and confirm the buzz shows the name of the Virtual Fob or Schedule that handled it. If instead it shows up under Answered, Missed, or Blocked, that means no automated entry method was active at the time of that buzz. To fix that, set up a Scheduled Access Period or a Virtual Fob.
If the buzz is shown as Auto-unlocked by your Virtual Fob or Schedule and the door still isn't opening, then it's possible that the unlock button currently set for your Buzzly Number isn't playing nice with your building, read on for ways to resolve this...
Our standard Unlock Button settings work for the vast majority of Buzzly users, but every now and then a building's buzzer needs a little extra attention (and really, who can blame it?). Here's how to work through it, one step at a time — most people find the fix in the first step or two.
You'll find all of these on the Overview page for your Buzzly Number, in the Unlock Button section.
Try the alternate tone. Staying on the Standard option, check the Use alternate tone box (it appears for buttons that have one). It's a slightly different take on the standard tone and sorts out most stubborn buildings on its own. More on that here.
Switch to Digital. If standard and alternate both come up short, flip from Standard to Digital. Some brand-new buildings use digital tones instead of the classic audio ones, so this is often the trick for newer construction.
Set your key sequence (also under Digital). Some buildings need more than one key, like *5# or 123. Switch to Digital and enter the exact sequence your building uses.
Still no luck after all that, or your building needs a truly one-of-a-kind tone? Give us a buzz with the chat button at the bottom right. We'll build a custom setting that works for your building and attach it to your account.
